How Idea was Launched:

David started up his own travel agency, acquiring Airtours. He built the agency up selling package holidays and working hard. David took Airtours to the stock market in 1987.

David achieved three 0'levels at school. At 16 years, he began work, stamping brochures in a Pendle travel agency. In 1996, the American cruise company, Carnival, took a stake in Airtours.

Earnings: David was granted shares in Carnival and joined its board. In 1998 he made £84million selling part of that stake.
