Mind ToolUse this subconscious mind tool to do all the hard work for you - I remember a time when I attended a talk by a successful rag-to-riches entrepreneur and founder of a listed multinational company. During the Question and Answer session I asked the speaker a question. "May I know what gives you the faith to build such a big and successful company?" Looking bewildered the speaker said, "You mean the God stuff? No, I am a free thinker. I simply trust my gut's feeling. There seems to be a fire in me and I have to let it go somewhere. Because this fire keeps burning, I keep building my business. Have I answered your question?" I nodded. Actually, my intention was to test whether he understood the power of the subconscious mind. Apparently, he didn't, but he had applied the power of the subconscious mind in his success. How? By using his subconscious as a tool, a mind tool I call it. First, he had a burning desire to do something (he called this his fire). In this case, he had a burning desire to build a large and successful enterprise. This burning desire had triggered his subconscious mind tool to look out for business opportunities. While the wellness industry was still in its infancy, he spotted the market potential and started selling wellness equipment. Was he lucky to spot, at that time, an untapped industry? I honestly don't think so. This may sound a bit metaphysical but it's important. The universe works by the laws of attraction and cause-and-effect. In this case his burning desire is the cause, and the effect is that he spotted a billion dollar untapped industry. Through his burning desire, he has attracted the opportunity to him. Another important piece of information can be extracted from his answer - "I simply trust my gut's feeling". So what is the 'gut's feeling?' Our gut's feeling is a way through which our subconscious minds communicate to us. When opportunity comes you have to know how to recognize it. In fact, your subconscious mind will help you to recognize it, through a mechanism commonly known as intuition or gut's feeling. I call it a mind tool, because this makes it easier for me to understand, and more accessible to me. Psychology and the mechanics of the brain are far better left to people who have devoted more time to the subject than me. If you are interested to find out more about the power of the subconscious mind and how you can tap into this power, I recommend you visit They have clearly devoted far more time to the subject, understand these mechanisms way better than me, and have a way of explaining them which makes the whole subject very accessible to the casual reader. If I were asked to say a few words on the subject, I would say this - Remember, your subconscious mind is vastly bigger than your conscious mind. Ask yourself 'why should this be?' If your subconscious mind says something to you which your conscious mind considers positive, listen to it! It is probably right. Whether your mind tool is saying 'don't go down that dark ally tonight' or 'knit high-visibility knee warmers for joggers, and sell them at dawn and dusk in the local park' . . . listen to it. Sure, apply all the usual sensible business procedures to the project, just as you would with any new small businesses venture, but don't just ignore it. You may be preventing yourself from becoming the next head of a 'knitted high-visibility knee warmers' multinational company! |
