Hide Source Code

Hide source code using Weblock Pro and your html pages will be totally safe from thieves.

Yes, thieves can steal any of your web site content in seconds. They can even steal the code for your entire site and put it back on the web exactly as you intended, but with all the important bits - like the sales - going to them.

With a little practice anyone can steal a page in seconds, unless its been hidden.

‘4 Small Businesses’ had just this problem, with content from our ‘Ideas’ pages appearing all over the web. It took a very long time to write those pages. We were very upset to put it mildly, but it was a great warning about what could’ve happened.

The first most people know about site theft is that an identical site to yours has appeared overnight and there is little you can do about it.

So, we decided to act quickly. This is exactly what we have a research team for!

There are quite a few products designed to hide source code, but head and shoulders above all of the competition is WebLock Pro.

For a price that frankly most people won’t care about, you can hide source code beyond the reach of the most determined thieves.

It took 3 minutes to pay for and download, 5 mins to work out how it all works, and 1 minute per page to fully protect our source code in ways we never could have thought about ourselves.

One mouse-click will enable you to do any of these, and more:

  • Disable right click
  • Disable text selection
  • Disable status bar mouseover
  • Disable print screen and clipboard
  • Disable image toolbar
  • Disable caching
  • Disable printing
  • Disable local viewing
  • Password protect page
  • Lock referring page
  • Lock domain

The only downsides that we can find are that WebLock Pro and SBI need a little help to fit together, (If you don’t know what SBI stands for don’t worry, this doesn’t apply to you), and once it has locked up a page, nobody, including you, will ever unlock it.

This is fine if you have the original backup (and it always prompts you) but if you forget then you will just have to do the work all over again if you want to make any changes to it. We say “great!”, wouldn’t want it any other way. If we could undo it so could someone else.

Click here to see what one of our locked up page looks like. (Note, we have allowed ‘status bar mouseover’)

The feature we most like is the ‘NoLock’ tag. This allows you to leave any code which you want search engines to see visible to them. So, you won’t loose your search engine placings for your pages, unlike many of WebLock Pro’s competitors.

One tip before you visit them, if you have a popup blocker on when you visit their site, then you won’t get any special offers ;-)
